Nancy was born and raised in Savannah, GA. She is the youngest of four siblings. Throughout her childhood she was involved with politics and volunteering.
Her family attended a Southern Baptist Church and she was homeschooled until 2006.
Nancy began the 2006-2007 school year at Robert W. Groves Public High School. She graduated in 2008 in the Top Ten in her class and as the Vice President of the Senior Class.
Nancy moved to Atlanta, Ga in the fall of 2008 to attend Georgia State University where she studied economic development, public management and policy. While earning her bachelor's, she worked in local restaurants as a server and bar tender. She graduated in the fall of 2012.
During her time in Atlanta, she met her husband, Tyler in 2011. In 2013, Tyler joined the US Air Force. After some training in Texas, he was transferred to a different career field that sent him to California in 2014.
Nancy and Tyler eloped in California in September 2014.
While living in California, Nancy worked at a restaurant and as a substitute teacher for the local public schools. Tyler graduated from his training in April 2015.
Tyler's first duty station was Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota.
After arriving in Minot, Nancy again worked as a substitute teach for the local public schools.
In the fall of 2015, she applied for and was hired as a Resilience AmeriCorps VISTA. Her service year began in January 2016.
During her time as a VISTA, Nancy worked alongside many local non-profit organizations. She helped start two non-profits and sat on three non-profit boards.
After her service year, Nancy was hired as the Planning Intern for the City of Minot. Just three months later she was hired as the Planning, Zoning, & Floodplain Administrator for Ward County.
In this role, Nancy was responsible for the land use regulations for 1.7 million acres of land, which included Minot Air Force Base and the Souris River. As part of her responsibilities, she wrote zoning codes to comply with new State legislation, such as medical marijuana and new FEMA flood maps. She also became a Certified Floodplain Manager as part of her duties. Additionally, she initiated and conducted a Comprehensive Plan update that is still used today.
After dealing with three polar vortexes in the 2018-2019 winter, Nancy had enough of the cold weather. She and Tyler decided it was time to move back South.
In March 2019, Tyler submitted his paperwork to separate from the Air Force.
By September, Nancy found a position with Pasco County as their Community Rating System (CRS) Coordinator.
In June 2020, the couple decided to move closer to family and bought a home in Sarasota.
Since then, Nancy has been working on building her consulting business, participating in volunteer activities, and becoming more politically active.
