Robust Funding
Despite a record setting budget from Florida's House of Representatives, my opponent, Rep. Buchanan voted to cut $12 million in funding for Sarasota County Schools.
Additionally, the Governor has rejected SUN Bucks, a new grocery benefit available across most of the U.S. Families with eligible school-aged children can get $120 per child to buy groceries during the summer.
Educator Compensation
Florida lags behind in educator compensation. The ability to attract and retain highly qualified educators depends on how much they earn.
We need to ensure that the base salary for our educators is competitive, that educators are compensated for time in service, and are provided incentives for additional training.
Curriculum & Standards
Politics should not determine the curriculum and standards for our public schools.
Florida needs to install education professionals in all levels of the Department of Education.
